Glandernol Dragonfly, a drawing by artist Sue Purcell

Glandernol Dragonfly

This drawing was created on a postcard for a fund-raising auction ‘Postcard Portraits’ in October 2005, as part of the Big Draw Exhibition at the Nature in Art Gallery, Wallsworth Hall, Twigworth, Gloucester.

I have been an artist-in-residence at this gallery twice, and exhibited there a few times. Through this connection I consequently exhibited in a wildlife auction at Christies in London, and have sold my artwork in both places.

Mixed media on a reclaimed window from my home
71 x 101cms.

The river has been a rich source for inspiration in my work and I wanted to capture the essence of being under the water.

In 2010 I had the opportunity, for the second time, to be an artist in residence at the Nature in Art Gallery and Museum,  Wallsworth Hall, near Gloucester. This picture, alongside another one of mine depicting seahorses at Anglesey Sea Zoo (which they subsequently bought for display at the Zoo), was part of a group show there, titled ‘Above Beneath Beyond’.
